The Metereological Office is forecasting high summer temperatures nationwide. High humidity makes matters worse in most areas. Thunderstorms are forecast for the northeast of the country, affecting Samana. These are expected to be short. Temperatures of 34C were reported in San Cristobal in the southwest, Listin Diario reported. The newspaper's reporters say that as a consequence, beaches are packed. The highest recorded temperature of the year was 35 C in Jimani, on the border with Haiti. Forecasts are for the temperature to peak at 38C in Jimani. But temperatures of more than 32C are forecast for Santo Domingo.
