Juan Samuel is the 5th Dominican Major League ballplayer to manage a MLB team. He was chosen to manage the Baltimore Orioles for the rest of the season. In his first game as manager, his team defeated the Boston Red Sox 4-3 in the team's home Baltimore.
Samuel was promoted from third base coach when the team's manager was fired. Other Dominicana managers are Felipe Rojas Alou, Luis Pujols, Tony Pena and Manny Acta.
