A low-pressure trough will continue to cause rains over most of the country, according to forecasts from the National Meteorological Office (Onamet). The rains will be accompanied, as has occurred lately, by electrical storms and wind gusts. Nevertheless, these rains will be lighter than of late. Onamet added that the high temperatures will continue because of the predominance of the southeasterly winds. Because of the rains yesterday, the Emergency Operations Center (COE) issued a green alert for the National District, Santo Domingo and San Cristobal. Meanwhile they kept a similar alert in place for Santiago, Dajabon, Santiago Rodriguez, Elias Pina and San Juan de la Maguana. The emergency assistance organization also announced that they would unveil this year's "Contingency Plan for the 2010 Hurricane Season" at the Presidential Palace at 5pm tomorrow.
