The Ministry of Public Health has authorized a RD$20,000 a month payment to Albania Germosen Herrera, mother of the quintuplets that were born in Santiago. She was appointed a social assistance supervisor in Region 8 of the Cibao. Public Health Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez said he hopes this will contribute to the babies' expenses. The mother and her husband Alfredo Bautista Cabrera have another child aged 2 and 8 months, and Bautista has four more children with another woman. She left the hospital with the government pledging to provide her with a new house while the construction of a new three-bedroom home is under way. The government also appointed two nurses to help her care for the babies. The rector of the Universidad Abierta para Adultos, Dr. Angel Hernandez pledged to supply Germosen Herrera with milk and disposable diapers for a year.
