The 5th Gala of Winners of the XIII International Van Cliburn Piano Contest will take place this evening, 10 June at 8:30pm at the National Theater's Carlos Piantini Hall. The event is sponsored by the Fundacion Sinfonia and E Leon Jimenes. French conductor Philippe Entremont and Julio de Windt will direct the National Symphony Orchestra. The pianists are Yeol Eum Son (Silver medal), Nobuyuki Tsujii (Gold medal) and Haochen Zhang (Gold medal). Program: Gershwin: Rhapsody in Blue, Chopin: Concert No. 1 for piano and orchestra in D Minor, Op 11, and Tchaikovsky: Concert No. 1 for piano and orchestra. Tickets: RD$2,500, RD$2,000, RD$1500, RD$800 and RD$350 from the National Theater box office.
