Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) executive vice president Celso Marranzini is urging power distribution companies to improve their efficiency in order to reduce blackouts. He said the 24-hour circuits (A Circuits) should continue. "The pressure on our part is that all circuits should become A Circuits," he said. He shared the concern of paying users who live in sectors where many do not pay, and have to suffer the consequences of several hours of blackouts.
Marranzini has told the power distributors that they have to reduce their operational costs by 25%, not the current 7.9% they have achieved. He said that the distributors have a deficit in meter readers, but maintain high payrolls benefiting supervisors. He mentioned that there were 85 meter readers but also 55 supervisors in Santiago, when just 5 would be enough, he told Z-101FM.
He also criticized the fact that street lighting is kept on during the daylight hours, which he says demonstrates a lack of good management.
