Ministry tests and teachers "flunk"

The Ministry of Education held competence examinations for principals, assistant principals and teachers this week and the results were not all that great. Only 58.26% of those taking the exam for school principals were able to pass, 56.78% of candidates taking the test for assistant principal passed and of the teaching job applicants, only 63.6% were able to pass the test. The Ministry of Education held the examinations to fill 1,467 principal or assistant principal posts and 5,881 teaching posts. As a result of the tests, only 45% of the principal positions and only 38.5% of the assistant positions could be filled. With respect to the teaching positions, Listin Diario reports that 62% of the jobs are still vacant.
