The Central Electoral Board (JCE) Disputes Chamber has issued the first seven decisions on election appeals, rejecting five of them and admitting two that call for the review of nullified votes and observed votes in the National District (DN). All the decisions on appeals affected the PRD. In Resolution 344-2010, the electoral court judges ordered the annulled votes and observed votes to be examined one by one in the polling centers in voting districts 1, 2, and 3 of the capital. The magistrates also requested the District Attorney to conduct an exhaustive investigation at the 78 polling stations that did not hand in the form that contained the preferential votes at each voting table on 16 May. The Disputes Chamber also accepted the request to review each one of the nullified ballots at the municipal level in District 3 of the National District, presented by the candidate for deputy Zoila Ventura Sanchez.
Yesterday the Disputes Chamber also heard several appeals from the province of Santiago, rejecting one submitted by Miriam Bueno (PLD) and accepting in part those of Rafaela Colon Tatis (PLD) and Carlos Terrero (PRD). They also accepted a case brought by Radhames Fermin (PRD) and ordered the opening of five boxes and a recount of their votes, due to an error in the addition of the preferential votes. However, the court rejected a request for a recount of all the voting acts. A request by Angel Acosta to recount all the nullified votes was also rejected.
