Gerencia G y M, S. A., the company Pueblo Viejo Dominicana Corporation, operator of the Barrick Gold mining concession has entrusted with its staff management, has announced that last week's workers strike has been solved. GyM says that agreements had been reached between management and workers. The workers were demanding medical insurance, overtime payments and a wage increase. In a paid advertisement, GyM says that it regrets the inconveniences caused by the situation.
Over the weekend, deputy Minister of Labor Julio Sanz said that the Ministry would be looking into human resources practices at the Cotui gold mine.
