The Foundation for Institutionalism and Justice (FINJUS) says that the increase in traffic accidents that has become a major public health problem in the DR is evidence of the institutional crisis suffered by the nation. Servio Tulio Castanos Guzman said that the problem is reaching "maximum seriousness". He said that the "lack of control in the ground transport systems" needed to be studied. He said he supports actions taken by the Metropolitan Transport Authority when they respect the law and organize traffic. He called on AMET to address the need to increase the level of traffic controls, as reported in Hoy.
