Senators have postponed their hearing on the sales contract of 49% of the shares of the Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa) to Venezuelan company PDVSA until next Wednesday despite the fact that the Hacienda Commission presented a favorable report and asked for the issue to be dealt with in today's session.
Nonetheless, the Senate president Reinaldo Pared Perez suggested postponing the hearing to allow time for each senator to read the document and ensure that no one later claims not to know the contents of the contract.
The Senate also designated the members of the Joint Commission that will work on the adjustments needed to the laws in the new Constitution that was enacted on 26 January and that require new regulations. The commission will include Prim Pujols, Francis Vargas, Andres Bautista, Tommy Galan and Charlie Mariotti.
