Canadian residents in the DR are planning social events in Punta Cana and in Cabarete this year to celebrate Canada Day on 1 July.
As a warm up, on the north coast, a family beach day is planned for Sunday, 27 June starting at noon. This will be hosted by Miro Restaurant in Cabarete and will feature music, karaoke and children's activities. There will be inexpensive hot dogs and burgers, along with Miro's popular sushi and regular menu. Free bus transportation from Puerto Plata and Sosua is being provided thanks to Turissimo, and a new residents club will be introduced for Canadians living, working and playing in the Dominican Republic. In Punta Cana, a beach party will be held at the Acqua Beach Club, Bibijagua, starting at 2 pm on Thursday, 1 July. A sunset catamaran ride and a dinner with live music are also planned. Dress code is the colors of the Canadian flag -- red and white. Prizes will be awarded for the best Canadian spirit.
