The online edition of El Dia features audio files of 41 telephone conversations between Quirino Ernesto Paulino Castillo dating from 9 December until he was arrested at 2:16pm on 18 December 2004. This case involves a former army captain who was arrested in a joint operation by the National Drug Control Department and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) following the confiscation of 1,387 kilos of cocaine linked to him on 19 December 2004. The cocaine had an estimated value of US$26.4 million. He was extradited to the US on drug-trafficking charges. The US vs Castillo criminal case is being heard in New York's South District Court by judge Kimba Wood.
