493 athletes to Mayaguez Games

The Dominican delegation at the Central American and Caribbean Games set for Mayaguez, Puerto Rico will consist of 493 athletes. The games will take place from 17 July through 1 August. In addition, a support contingent made up of 143 'technicians' and officials, 40 delegates and 21 judges and arbiters will travel to Puerto Rico. The country will compete in 32 of the 34 sports. The DR will not compete in football or in Basque pelota. The Dominican team did not participate in qualifying events, which means it will not be competing in either of these sports at the 2011 Pan Am Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
