Senate to confirm Refidomsa sale

The Senate will hear arguments on the sales contract for 49% of the shares of the Dominican Petroleum Refinery (Refidomsa) to the Venezuelan company PDVSA this afternoon. The contract already has a favorable report that was presented last week by the Hacienda Commission, headed by Senator Tommy Galan, and which asks that the contract be approved exactly as submitted by the Executive Branch. According to the agreement, the Dominican State sells, assigns and transfers 49% of the shares of Refidomsa to PDV Caribe, free of all privileges, charges and/or liens, with the State controlling the remaining 51% of the shares.
