In a meeting last night that lasted for five hours, the PLD Political Committee postponed for the second time, and without setting a date, their leadership selection for the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. The decision was taken "for lack of time", as the only point on the agenda that was discussed was a report by a commission assessing the performance of the PLD and allied parties in the last congressional and municipal elections.
PLD secretary general Reinaldo Pared Perez announced the postponement at a press conference after the end of the meeting that was chaired by President Leonel Fernandez at his house in the University Zone. The meeting began at 5:30 in the afternoon with the arrival of the President; ending at 10:30 p.m.
Pared Perez said that former campaign coordinator Francisco Javier Garcia was added to the commission made up of Temistocles Montas, Cesar Pina Toribio and Danilo Diaz. The commission will prepare a document outlining the PLD's final position on the election results. The document will be published after it is approved at the next Political Committee meeting.
