In the latest chapter of the drama unfolded by the Police, the National Drug Control Department and the Prosecutor General Office, the press was presented with a "blacklist" yesterday. It includes nine people said to be on Puerto Rican fugitive Jose David Figueroa's hit list. Figueroa is deemed the Pablo Escobar of the Caribbean by the US Marshal.
The blacklist includes four who have already been murdered by suspected contract killers. The motives for the murders included economic interests, the authorities said at the press conference yesterday.
Heading the presentation were Prosecutor General Radhames Jimenez Pena, assistant prosecutor Frank Soto, District prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso Segarra, Police chief Rafael Guillermo Guzman Fermin and National Drug Control Department chief Rolando Rosado Mateo.
The list includes names and photos of Juliana Morel Amarante (Sobeidita), a cousin of fugitive Sobeida Morel, decorator Andres Aybar Abud and realtor Carolina Mendez Hernandez. Also, four who have been murdered by suspected contract killers: Jose Amado Gonzalez, Ruben Soto Hayet, Omar Antigua Polanco and Gabriel Arias Castillo (Alex El Pelotero). There are two spaces without names or photos, just labeled "confidential". The list is published in the Listin Diario today with details of the murders.
General Juan Fructuoso Heredia, director of the Police Central Criminal Intelligence Department, said that the contract killers had been paid US$30,000 for each murder, plus gifts. In the case of Arias Castillo, RD$400,000 was paid. He said that security measures have been taken in the case of the others on the list.
The authorities have accused Jose Miguel Rodriguez Almonte (Job), Jose Anibal Giraldo Garcia (Molmo), William Ortiz de los Santos (Richard or Bobolo), Juan Amauris Rodriguez Minier (Ambioris), Yermi Mercedes Liranzo (La Diosa), Joel Antonio Feliz Medina, Jose Alberto de la Cruz Paredes, Gean Enrique Rojas, Ricardo Perez Mateo and Winston Rodriguez Tavares of the murders.
During the press conference, the authorities said that these findings solved the murders of Colonel Jose Amado Gonzalez Gonzalez, Ruben Soto Hayet, Gabriel Arias Castillo and Omar Antigua Polanco.
