Ambassador Luisa Vicioso Sanchez (Chiqui) has been chosen as a member of a select group of 10 to work for the recovery of Haiti's cultural heritage. Dominican ambassador to UNESCO Rosa Hernandez de Grullon announced that Vicioso had been selected for membership of the International Committee for the Coordination of the Safeguarding of the Cultural Heritage of the Republic of Haiti. The first session of the committee, presided by of Haiti, will take place in Paris from 7-8 July.
Chiqui Vicioso is an ambassador for children and women's rights at the Ministry of Foreign Relations. A graduate in Latin American history and sociology from Brooklyn College with a Masters in education from Columbia University, she has also done postgraduate studies in cultural management at the Fundacion Getulio Vargas in Brazil and is well known for her poetry and plays.
She competed with 49 other candidates from around the world for the post.
