Health prevention work intensifies

Health Minister Bautista Rojas Gomez has ordered epidemiologists, entomologists and health promoters to travel to the areas most affected by the rains to prevent outbreaks of epidemics. These professionals and specialists will carry out preventive work, going from house to house to prevent the spread of infectious or contagious illnesses. This work has already been stepped up in the areas of Los Mina, La Barquita, Sabana Perdida, Herrera, and Los Tres Brazos in the province of Santo Domingo and in San Juan de la Maguana. Preventive activities include the elimination of breeding grounds using rat poison, to prevent the spread of leptospirosis.
