The Central Electoral Board (JCE) Disputes Chamber has rejected nearly all of the appeals, most of which were filed by PRD candidates. So far, the electoral tribunal has issued 65 verdicts of which 43 were rejections, 16 were approved and 6 appeals were partially accepted. The rejected appeals include 30 related to candidates from the PRD, 9 from the PLD, 1 from the PRSC, 1 from the FNP and 1 from the UDC. Meanwhile, six petitions were related to the verification of invalid and observed votes, among others, seven from the PLD, six from the PRD, two from the PRSC, and one from the PRSD. The decisions that were revealed yesterday include one related to Resolution Number 450-2010 in which the chamber partly accepted the PRD appeal and their candidate for senator for San Jose de Ocoa, Pedro Alegria. In the decision, the Disputes Chamber orders the Rancho Arriba Election Board to examine all of the invalid and observed votes one by one. The election tribunal accepted in part the invalidation of Act Number 076 at the A (congressional) level from the municipality of Rancho Arriba because it showed alterations. Nevertheless, it was known that the aspiring candidate from the PRD did not obtain sufficient votes to win.
Moreover, the JCE rejected as inappropriate, unfounded and devoid of legal support the appeals filed against the decisions of the Election Boards of San Jose de Ocoa, Rancho Arriba and Sabana Larga. The Disputes Chamber decided that there were no judicial reasons to void the elections held in those districts as was requested by the current senator and re-election hopeful, Pedro Alegria. The Disputes Chamber also dictated another eight decisions related to appeals for elective posts. These include Resolution 07-2010 referring to the appeal filed by the senate candidate for the PRD in Peravia, Vicente Castillo, which was rejected "because it lacked sustainable reasons" and thereby denied.
