Kenyan runner Julius Keter established a new record for the second consecutive year at the Lowenbrau Hispaniola Half-Marathon run around the Mirador del Sur Park in Santo Domingo. More than 800 athletes competed in the 15th year of the run, despite the light rains. Keter set a new record of 1:04:16 for the 21 kilometers. The previous record was 1 hour and 5 minutes.
Peruvian Waldir Ureta came second with 1:06:33 and in third place, Luis Rivera of Puerto Rico.
In the women's category, Caroline Chewolo, also of Kenya set a new record at 1:16:44. Dominican Andreina de la Rosa finished second and won RD$160,000. Toribio Rosa was the first Dominican to finish, winning RD$100,000. Prize money was RD$1 million, as reported in Listin Diario.
