No to Santiago parking meters

The Supreme Court of Justice has annulled the contract between the Santiago Municipality and the Blue Parking Caribbean Consortium that allowed for operation of parking meters in downtown Santiago. The contract was signed under the outgoing city administration of Jose Enrique Sued. The municipality's authority to restrict the use of city parking space had been disputed by a citizen, leading to the Supreme Court ruling. The Sued municipality had authorized the parking meters in 2005 but the Supreme Court ruled that the parking meters were in violation of the Constitution.
