The National Police is by far considered the most corrupt government organization, according to a Gallup/Hoy poll of 1,200 Dominicans of voting age. 30.5% picked the Police as the most corrupt. This is up from 16% in November 2009.
Ranking next were:
Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE) 7.5%, down from 11%.
Presidency 6.8%
National Drug Control Department (DNCD) 4.6%
Municipal councils 4.1%
Senate 3.8%
Supreme Court of Justice 3.6%
Public Works 3.2%
Armed Forces 2.8%
The same poll determined reveals that 60% of people interviewed in the Gallup/Hoy June poll say that there is more corruption in this government than before. 25.6% said corruption is at the same level, and only 12.5% say there is less corruption. 66.4% believe that corruption will increase in time.
In the same poll of 1,200 citizens of voting age, 85.8% believes that at times there is impunity.
