A Dominican has won the coveted title of Miss Italy in the World. This contest, which is held in Italy for immigrants from around the world, is also open to children or relatives of Italians who live abroad. The contest has a high rating on Italian TV.
21-year-old Kimberly Castillo Mota from the Dominican Republic was crowned Miss Italia nel Mondo 2010 in the final, which was held on the evening of 30 June. Miss Italia nel Mondo or Miss Italy in the World is an Italian beauty pageant for women of Italian heritage that has been held since 1991. Dozens of countries vie for the crown annually in the pageant held each year in Italy.
