Vargas wants PRD president to be nominee

In a meeting of the Political Commission (CP) marked by the absence of the factions headed by Hipolito Mejia, Luis Abinader, Milagros Ortiz Bosch, and Guido Gomez Mazara, the president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Miguel Vargas Maldonado, proposed yesterday that the nomination convention that will choose the candidate for the next presidential elections be held on 28 November. Vargas Maldonado also proposed that the internal campaign for the nomination should start on 28 August and that the winner of the nomination take over the post of party president. The suggestions will be approved during the next meeting of the Political Commission that is scheduled for 14 July.
