The Department of Customs (DGA) has sent Jose Alexander Lopez Martinez to justice for attempting to smuggle US$529,630 on a flight from New York. Lopez Martinez arrived on a Delta Airlines flight. He was arrested when trying to bribe two customs officers with US$100 in return for not checking his luggage. Law 3489 establishes that travelers bringing in more than US$10,000 have to declare the amount. He was detained by the DGA for investigations.
