The Ministry of Health will spend RD$10 million on a rabies vaccination program in 11 provinces, beginning this weekend. The program is expected to reach 116,000 dogs and cats and will be divided into three phases. On 5 and 6 August it will be done in Monte Cristi, Santiago Rodriguez and Dajabon, where an estimated 19,000 cats and dogs will be treated. The second phase will take place on 12 and 13 August and will reach 68,000 animals in San Pedro de Macoris, Higuey, Hato Mayor and El Seibo. The last phase, on an unspecified date, will inoculate 29,000 cats and dogs in San Juan de la Maguana, Elias Pina and Independencia.
