French academics praise Fernandez

Prominent French researcher Alain Touraine says that the Dominican Republic has entered an era of progress, respectability and development thanks to the transformation that is being led by President Leonel Fernandez. He stated that the country has a president with whom it is possible to discuss ideas, with a clear vision of what should be done in today's world. He referred to the fact that the President has restored respectability to the Dominican state, since it is now possible to discuss issues on the world agenda and the course that the nations should follow. Touraine made these remarks at a meeting with French academics of the Social Science Institute of Higher Studies, attended by President Fernandez. The sociologist stated: "It is an honor to share ideas with a personality such as President Fernandez, with clear ideas and modern concepts about the relationship that should exist between the Social Sciences and the exercise of power". During the same event, the head of the Social Science Institute of Higher Studies, Francois Weil, awarded a medal to the President, highlighting his abilities as a statesman and as a well-versed sociologist and philosopher and a promoter of good relations between peoples.
