The District Attorney for Santiago initiated court proceedings against Katherine del Carmen Ramos Flores yesterday and sent the young woman to preventive custody. She was found in the apartment where two men were killed after they fired at police and prosecutors who were trying to serve a search warrant. The judge at the Judicial Office of Permanent Attention sent the 18-year old to three months preventive custody. According to the police files, the girl was in the company of Sandy Enmanuel Grullon Villaman and Ruben Francisco Fernandez Nunez, the men who died in the firefight. They were found along with 22 cloned credit cards with the proper codes. The assistant prosecutor who was wounded in the shooting told reporters that the people who were shooting at the authorities were members of a gang that had been cloning credit cards for five years and who also transported stolen motorcycles and other vehicles over the border to Haiti. The vehicles were usually stolen using violence. According to unofficial reports, a Police officer was allegedly involved in the gang. Three motorcycles were found at the house of the father of one of the suspects who died in the shooting.
