The Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) and the National Council of Free Zones have signed contracts that will create five new free zones and provide grounds for more than 3,000 new jobs and exports for US$11 million. According to Industry and Commerce Minister Ramon Fadul, the investments will total more than US$2 billion. The free zones will be located in Barahona, Santo Domingo East, Boca Chica and Santiago. They will provide services such as customs handling, importing and exporting of products, warehousing, and pharmaceuticals.
