The Consular Section of the United States Embassy has announced increased fees for visas for immigrants and for citizen services. These new fees are applied worldwide. Most of the changes, according to Diario Libre, are minor with respect to the immigration visa.
The only significant change in immigrant visas was done in early June when the fee for a K-1 Fiancee Visa was increased from US$150 to US$350. This change was caused by the need for more thorough investigations due to the incidence of fraud in many cases. In all cases, if an applicant has already paid the fee and has an upcoming appointment, the difference can be paid at that time.
For US citizens, the fee schedule affects passports ($20 to $40 dollars), passport cards ($20 to $30 dollars) and for adding pages to a passport ($82 dollars). Also, Consular Reports for Foreign Births have gone from $85 dollars to $100 dollars, and the fee to renounce citizenship is now $450.
