A low-pressure trough will continue to cause rains over a lot of the country, according to the National Meteorological Office (Onamet). The rains, more frequent in the afternoon, will be accompanied by wind gusts and occasional thunder and lightning, and will fall with the greatest intensity in the northeast, southeast, Central Mountains and the Cibao. The Onamet also advises sailors and fishermen who operate small crafts to stay close to the coasts and not venture into the high seas due to unusual wave action. According to the forecasts, there could be waves as high as eight feet in the coastal areas of the Atlantic and in the Mona Passage, and small craft should stay in port. The rain showers, with electrical storms, will continue tomorrow and could increase their intensity with the arrival of the tropical wave and the clouds brought by the easterly winds. In spite of the rains, temperatures will continue to be high throughout the day today, according to Onamet.
