The tunnels under construction on Av. 27 de Febrero near Carmen Mendoza de Corniel Street and Av. Nunez de Caceres in Santo Domingo will be finished before Christmas, according to Diario Libre. These are open tunnels with bridges for cars to cross over both Carmen Mendoza and Nunez streets facilitating north-south-north traffic. As reported, traffic lights will no longer be needed and this will speed up the flow of traffic from Av. Privada all the way to the Las Americas Expressway, a route taken by approximately one million vehicles a day. Meanwhile, major bottlenecks are making traffic in the construction area a nightmare.
