The Dominican Republic and five other countries in the region will take part in an "Eat Right" series of radio programs sponsored by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The idea is to teach people how to eat the right foods. The program will be transmitted by radio stations in Panama, Guatemala, El Salvador, Peru and Ecuador. The programs aim to send a clear message on food handling and preparation, including basic care that should be taken into account at the time of preparing a meal. The messages have been adapted to the local languages, such as Quechua in Peru or Quiche in Guatemala, as well as local food preferences, with special emphasis on the food consumed by the rural populations.
