Hispanic mayors meeting

Mayors from 27 countries in Latin America, Portugal and Spain met in Santo Domingo yesterday for the 24th Plenary Assembly of the Union of Ibero-American Capital Cities. In the Declaration of Santo Domingo, the mayors committed to promote and strengthen social cohesion, integration and strategic cooperation between cities, as well as sustainable economic development, adequate environmental management, ethics and transparency in city government. The talks were chaired by Madrid Mayor Alberto Ruiz Gallardon and Santo Domingo Mayor Roberto Salcedo. Salcedo was voted president of the organization for the next two years.
