Yves Carcelle, president of Louis Vuitton Malletier, says the company based its decision to open a store in Santo Domingo on the dynamics of the city.
In an interview with Diario Libre's Estilos magazine, Carcelle said that they are already in 70 countries. "There always are opportunities to open in others and discover new buyers," he said.
He said that marketing studies are not merely an exercise in mathematics. "When you visit a country and you go out to see the restaurants, how people dress, how they travel, who is buying abroad, how they get around... you get a good idea of the economy. When I came 18 months ago to plan this project, to us, more important than the statistics, it was pretty clear that there was sufficient purchasing power in the Dominican Republic for the store to operate well."
The 220m2 store is at the new Blue Mall on Winston Churchill Avenue.
