The Ladies Room (Bano de Damas) is a play by leading Venezuelan playwright Rodolfo Santana with 10 female and 2 male characters that takes place in the bathroom of a popular bar/discotheque. The play, which opens at the National Theater this weekend, revolves around the lives of the characters as they talk about themselves and their circumstances; spousal abuse, errant daughters, medical problems, career changes, politics and sexuality. Critics have praised the dialogue and storylines, gleaned from actual secret recordings. The play is famous for its controversial surprise ending.
In the Dominican version, the main roles are played by Carolina Rivas, Pamela Sued, Ana Rivas, Olga Bucarelli, Ivonne Beras, Miralba Ruiz, Sabrina Gomez, Sharlene Taule, Maria Angelica Urena, Zedenka Kalina and Reynaldo Lopez. The play is directed by Enrique Chao.
