Puerto Rican chief of police Jose Figueroa Sancha traveled to Santo Domingo yesterday for meetings with his Dominican counterpart Major General Rafael Guzman Fermin. Interviewed by the press, Figueroa Sancha said that he was in the DR to coordinate joint actions with the Dominican authorities to clarify the case and the scope of Figueroa Agosto's operations.
Figueroa Sancha said that Sobeida Felix's sister, Daysi Felix Morel, was traveling in the same car as Figueroa Agosto when he was arrested on Calle Loiza in Santurce, San Juan. Figueroa Sancha refused to reveal the identity of the other man captured during Figueroa Agosto's arrest.
Figueroa Sancha confirmed that Figueroa Agosto had 10 Blackberry cell phones in his possession when he was captured. Also being mentioned in the press are two lists with persons and institutions that allegedly received bribes, both in Puerto Rico and the DR. In the DR, Figueroa Agosto reportedly had four Central Electoral Board (JCE) identity cards, and two passes from the National Department of Investigations (DNI).
