As reported in El Dia, the US government has authorized the deportation of Sobeida Felix Morel, Puerto Rican fugitive Jose David Figueroa Agosto's girlfriend. The Prosecutor General Office in Santo Domingo has requested her deportation. The Puerto Rican authorities say that so far she would only face charges for illegal entry into Puerto Rico.
Figueroa Agosto's lawyer Fernando Carlo said that his client was extremely concerned about Felix Morel's physical safety.
Figueroa escaped from a Puerto Rican jail where he was serving a 209-year sentence for murder in a drug trafficking related crime. Sobeida Felix Morel had escaped to Puerto Rico after skipping bail in the DR where she had been arrested for complicity in a money laundering case.
There is speculation that Sobeida Felix is pregnant, which could delay her departure from Puerto Rico.
Sobeida Felix, who has been Figueroa Agosto's girlfriend for the past six years, is mentioned as someone who is in the know about all the people linked to her boyfriend and his drug trafficking world and influence lobbying. At the time of her arrest, she held Colonel Elvis Soriano Familia responsible for her security when she was arrested at Residencial Alco Paradisso on 3 September.
If deported to the DR, her life could be at risk. Several people with ties to Jose David Figueroa have been murdered, including Jose Amado Gonzalez Gonzalez, Vianesa Cesarina Capellan (Vianca la Gorda), Omar Lantigua Polanco, Jose Gabriel Castillo and Ruben Soto Hayet.
