AirTran adds fifth Caribbean destination

AirTran announced this morning that the Dominican Republic resort of Punta Cana will be its newest destination for regularly scheduled passenger service. The carrier will begin flying to the city on Feb. 16, offering one round-trip flight from Atlanta each Wednesday and Saturday.

Six hours, you have to go through Santo Domingo. Cabfare would be in excess of $200 each way, easy.

Bavaro can be fun, but Delta's nonstop into SDQ is much more practical.
