The results of the first round of the Standardized National Scholastic Tests at the primary, secondary and adult education level show lower scores in Spanish and Mathematics than in other subjects. In the case of the primary level, the results by subject show that the least number of passes were given for Spanish, 144,374 (92%) of those taking the test. The scores for Mathematics showed 93% passing, but for Social Studies they were at 93% and Natural Science was at 94%.
At the adult level, 95% of those taking the tests passed Spanish and Mathematics, but the pass levels for Social Studies and Natural Science was 96%.
At the secondary level, including the technical profession category, show a lower performance in Mathematics, which was passed by 785 of the students, while 83% passed Spanish. On the other hand 86% passed Social Studies and 83% passed Natural Science.
As has been reported, 48% of the students that took the tests at the secondary level did not pass, versus just 19% of failures at the primary level.
As might be expected, students at private and semi-private schools fared better than students from public schools.
