Presidential Minister Danilo Medina has told reporters that President Fernandez would not sign the questionable legislation that approved the artificial island, or the US$132 million loan for the equipping of the National Police. Medina said that the President either would not sign the legislation or would return it to the Congress. The minister said that the nation can rest assured that none of the projects that were so controversial would be signed into law by the President. Other projects that have been questioned include the EUR106 million commercial bank loan for the metro, the RD$400 million to purchase trees for the Santiago public park, and the ENADE contract that privatizes collections on government property.
