The Senate passed the bill that creates the new boards of the Judicial Power and the Prosecutor General Office. These are intended to strengthen the independence of the judicial branch of government and anti-corruption mechanisms of both institutions, as reported in Hoy. The bill now moves to the Chamber of Deputies. The bills are timely so as to comply with dispositions in the 2010 Constitution that call for both bodies to enter into operation before 26 July.
