Los Cacicazgos neighborhood board is campaigning for the toppling of the first nine floors of the 31-floor Torre de Plata erected adjacent to the Dominican Fiesta in the upscale neighborhood. The neighborhood group was able to puts on hold the construction of the high rise, on grounds that construction was begun without the legal permits, approved plans, construction license, environmental impact study or supervision of the Ministry of Public Works. Miriam Paulino, lawyer who represents the residents in the sector, told Diario Libre: "We cannot allow that the tower remain there because it will always be a threat to Los Caciczgos sending to all the message that those in power can defeat us."
