A gang that used their positions in Boca Chica and eastern Santo Domingo for their personal profit was fired this week. The military were Police mayor Franklin Estevez Liberado, Air Force captain Valentin Marrero Novas, Army first lieutenants Santo Toribio Reyes de la Cruz and agents Eddison Mendez, Angelo Calcano Escano, Luis Rafelin Ciprian Ramirez and Algeny Joaquin Pena Gonzalez of the DNCD Inspectors in Boca Chica were fired this week. Also, first lieutenant Alberto Rodriguez Marcelino, second lieutenant Manuel Joaquin de Jesus, agents Francisco Suero Andujar, Luiggi Ruiz Mendoza of the Police anti-drug division.
The president of the DNCD, Major General Rolando Rosado Mateo told the press that the modus operandi of the gang was locate the drugs, and then carry out anti-drug operations, that resulted in their confiscating the drugs, money and then letting go the traffickers, as reported in Diario Libre.
When the group was arrested, they had in their possession RD$475,000 in cash and two kilos of cocaine.
Rosado said the agents were directed by Italian Enzo Serrapede and Virgilio Gonzalez de Leon (Virgilito), who together with former police agents Andres Julio Segura Caceres (El Gordo) and Angel Ovalles (El Aleman) took over confiscated drugs in Boca Chica and eastern Santo Domingo for commercialization purposes, as reported in El Dia.
