During their closed-door sessions, reportedly Presidents Leonel Fernandez and Raul Castro, and Foreign Ministers Morales Troncoso and Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla, focused on regional issues, including the current crisis between Venezuela and Colombia.
President Leonel Fernandez said that he will receive next week the President-elect of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, as part of his role as the head of the "Group of Friends" created during the Unity Summit for Latin America and the Caribbean that was held in Cancun, Mexico last February.
He said it was his intention to analyze with Santos the way in which to "harmonize the relations between these two brotherly nations".
Fernandez said that he would not talk about the recent announcement by the Venezuelan president to break off relations with Colombia. This announcement came as Colombia's Alvaro Uribe said that Venezuela was harboring FARC guerillas in its border territories.
