Filmmakers are celebrating that the Senate has finally passed the Cinematography Bill with incentives for the development of the film industry in the DR. The bill is expected to stir renewed interest in making films in the DR. The bill had been lingering in Congress since 2007. Santiago senator Francisco Dominguez Brito explained that the bill provides incentives and government support to the film industry in the DR, but also is intended to encourage foreign companies to make more movies here.
