A new body will supervise the operation of the Supreme Court of Justice. The Chamber of Deputies passed the second reading on the entity yesterday in order to comply with the 2010 Constitution. The new 5-judge body is the Judicial Branch Council. Members of the body are the president and a judge of the Supreme Court of Justice, a judge of the Court of Appeals, a judge of a first instance court and a justice of peace.
The Chamber of Deputies also passed the bill that creates the Superior Council of Public Prosecutors. This new entity is in charge of directing and managing the prosecutors career system. Members of this body are the prosecutor general, an adjunct prosecutor, an adjunct prosecutor of the Prosecutor General Office, the prosecutor of the Court of Appeals, and a fiscal prosecutor.
