The drug trafficking network of Puerto Rican capo Jose David Figueroa Agosto has not been totally disbanded in the DR, reports El Dia today. The newspaper says that Francisco Solano de los Santos, who also made a spectacular escape from the "high security" Puerto Rico jail where he was held, as was his boss Figueroa, for murder and had been sentenced to 209 years in jail is at large.
Also free is Vicente Calderon Ramos, another inmate who also left the high security prison 25 days after the departure of Figueroa and Solano. He was also sentenced for murder.
Solano de los Santos, born in Ramon Santana in the DR, escaped on 11 October 1999 and is said to have returned to the DR where he installed himself in La Romana at Teofilo Ferry 42, in Mirabal neighborhood.
El Dia makes the point the authorities have been mute about Solano and Calderon Ramos, despite their known close ties to Jose David Figueroa Agosto, who used the DR as base of operation for 10 years.
El Dia reports that the FBI believes that both are in Dominican territory and had acted together with Figueroa Agosto.
El Dia reports that Vicente Calderon Ramos, who was known in Puerto Rico as a contractor, is among the most sought after fugitives by US federal authorities. Nevertheless, Calderon Ramos is not on the US Marshals Service wanted list.
