The Dominican government has recognized US Consul General Michael Schimmel's work in the DR over the past four years. The Dominican government awarded him with the order of Duarte, Sanchez and Mella in the rank of comendador. He received the honor from Foreign Relations Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso.
